Ceri-Ann Townsend - Percussion
Born in Edinburgh, Ceri-Ann has always been involved in music. In her younger years she enjoyed dance, theatre, piano and even briefly played the trumpet! After seeing a now close friend play the drums at school, she was inspired to take up percussion and has never looked back - although the tap shoes still come out every once in a while!
After learning throughout high-school and attending the Junior Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for 2 years, Ceri-Ann came to Cardiff to study percussion at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Since joining the RWCMD, Ceri-Ann has had the opportunity to be part of lots of different projects such as the RWCMD Symphony Orchestra/Opera, Christmas on Broadway and frequently performs as a lead singer in Live Music events in the Students Union. Alongside her studies, she also enjoys a busy and varied schedule of freelance work.
Having never explored the world of brass banding before starting at the RWCMD, she was excited to be given the opportunity to play with a variety of bands in various concerts and competitions before being invited to play with Flowers band in Spring 2023. Ceri-Ann made her competition debut with Flowers at the 2023 National Championships at the Royal Albert Hall.
